Learning the art of storytelling encourages youth to share their voice and personal expression. Soul Creative Academy Filmmaking Camp instills students with confidence, problem solving skills, creative thinking, and positive group interaction. During this 2-week camp, students will write a script, storyboard their scenes, shoot with a video camera or iPad, and edit their short narrative video using iMovie. Each student will write a 1 page script and the group will select the story to be produced as a 3-5 minute short narrative film.
On the last day of camp, family members will be invited to the final video screening.
Needed for camp: A flash or thumb drive to save the final group film. Students are to pack a lunch, snacks, water, sunscreen, and clothes for variable weather. Students are welcome to bring their own cameras. Ipads will be supplied during class.
Creativity Camp
July 9-11 F, S, Sun 3-6pm $275
Everyone is Creative! Unlock your creativity through the use of writing exercises, free form drawing, vision boards, mind mapping, storytelling, rock painting, meditation, and visualization. Harnessing your creativity assists you in any profession, whether you are a business owner, scientist, engineer or educator.
This workshop combines the act of creating with the focus of consciously creating life goals. Expressing yourself not only lowers stress, but it opens up new channels of creative thought. Students will be given tools, such as journaling and self- expression, to tap into their own creative thinking. We will then focus on each student’s goals for the upcoming year. The process of making art — whether that be writing, sketching, doodling, or painting — is good for you.
Needed for camp: A journal, snacks, water bottle, and clothes for variable weather. Masks will be needed for indoor creating.
