Morning Ritual & Electrolyte Drink

30 DAY SUNSHINE RITUAL FOR CREATIVITY & HOMEMADE ELECTROLYTE DRINK RECIPE

A huge way to cultivate more creativity in your life is to commit to a daily morning ritual.

I have learned that what sets successful people apart is their discipline and commitment to their morning ritual. Deepak Chopra, MD, wakes up at 4:00 am and meditates for two full hours before practicing yoga. His morning mantra is “Restful, alert mind. Joyful, energetic body. Loving, compassionate heart. But most important...lightness of being.”

I love Deepak but his morning ritual is a bit over zealous for me. Deepak is one of the most impressive people on the planet and I would love to have his discipline, but there’s no way I’m going to get up at 4:00 am.

Here’s the thing, we can design our mornings exactly how we want. It’s not about how bad ass you are as an early riser, is about creating a sacred time for yourself with intention and clarity even if it’s just 5 minutes. Whether you are a night owl or morning person, learning to set time aside for yourself each morning can have a profound impact on how productive you are for the rest of the day.

In the mornings, I’m like a caterpillar in a cocoon and cherish every precious moment of sleep. My tendency is to sleep in until my daughter wakes up and then feel completely rushed to the point of leaving zero time for myself. I use to feel hectic and hurried the entire day and this in turn created a lack of focus.

Now with COVID quarantine, many of us are working from home, watching and home schooling kids, and / or missing a daily fitness or routine. During this challenging and uncertain time, it’s important more than ever to give yourself time to recharge, refocus, and relieve stress.

What resonates for you and nourishes your mind, body and soul? Giving yourself this time and space will ultimately give you more vitality and creativity.

Commit to a 30 day daily morning ritual and let me know if you start to access more creativity, focus, peace, energy, hope, and confidence.

Here is my morning ritual and I have found it to be transformative. I am now accessing my creativity in a way that I never did before. I encourage you to commit your own unique morning ritual. You deserve to be your best self.

MY DAILY SUNSHINE RITUAL

  • 7 am wake up time, this for me is doable and my daughter wakes up at 7:30 am

  • DO NOT look at news or social media or texts on cell phone

  • 10-15 minute breath meditation

  • 5 minute “Ideal Me” visualization

  • Write a list of 5 things I am grateful for and tap into the deep feeling of gratitude

  • Drink my homemade electrolyte drink in a 1 liter stainless steel nalgene

  • Make myself a cup of tea

  • Ahh - I am now ready to conquer the day

HOMEMADE ELECTROLYTE DRINK

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

  • 2 raw honey teaspoons - I opt out of using a sweetener, it tastes great without it, but if you would like a bit of sweetness, raw honey is a good source of antioxidants.

  • 1/8 teaspoon Himalayan sea salt

  • 1 (4") piece ginger, peeled

  • 1 dropper full of Trace Minerals No! Muscle Cramps - Trace Minerals, including iron, manganese, copper, iodine, zinc, cobalt, fluoride and selenium, provide essential electrolytes that many of our foods no longer provide. Trace Minerals No! Muscle Cramps supports healthy electrolyte balance in the muscles to avoid cramps and contains magnesium, potassium, sodium and over 72 naturally occurring ionic trace minerals to stay properly hydrated. Since increasing my water intake and supplementing 20 drops a day in my water bottle, my monthly charley horses or muscle cramps have completely gone away.

PREPARATION

Finely grate ginger and if using hot or warm water, you can just add the ginger pieces into your water bottle. If you prefer cold water, use a flexible spatula and press solids into a fine-mesh sieve set over a small bowl and discard pulp. You should have about 1 tsp. ginger juice.

Squeeze 1/2 lemon into 1 liter water bottle or if preparing a larger container, squeeze enough lemon for 1/4 cup. Squeeze 1/2 lime into your water mixture.

Add salt, trace mineral drops, and raw honey if you want a sweetener.

I prefer to drink warm water first thing in the morning, so I just add everything in my water bottle and am ready to go. The lemon-ginger mixture can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill.
